The Hovey Street Murder story is a wonderful example of the importance of collaboration in multimedia production and delivery (and the sherrif’s quote in the title of this post).

Making URL’s Short Enough for Twitter

Micro-blogging on Twitter allows the user a maximum of 140 characters (spaces included) for each post. That requires succinct content and very little room for a long URL link. To remedy this situation, copy that long URL from the page you wish to link, and use one of the following, free, URL shortening services:

Once the site generates your alias, shortened URL copy the complete smallet URL into your Twitter text box (just don’t exceed the 140 character limit).

NABJ Nashville Media Institute Off to a Great Start

Following a tasty-but-plastic-knife-challenged dinner, graciously sponsored by the Nashville chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists, Rick Hancock jump started the institute with a presentation on Entrepreneurial Journalism.

The image on the left was uploaded from a laptop to an online photo manipulation site, picnik.com. The original image was cropped, re-sized to 180px x 240px, modified to include text, and then re-saved to the laptop. From there, the Add media feature on this blog was used to upload the image into the blog’s gallery. The gallery provides the URL for the file that was ten copied/pasted into the Insert/Edit Image tool.
